NCI has concentrated on expanding its Digital Subscriber Line or DSL. DSL is the only affordable broadband technology for most Internet customers in our service area. We have doubled our backbone bandwidth capacity for DSL and expanded our DSL coverage to include areas such as Kersey and Wilcox. We're also assisting many business and home customers in setting up local area networks to take advantage of the higher speed Internet access DSL provides.

In an effort to curb the amount of spam mail and viruses being sent to our customers, NCI has subscribed to Postini's email security solution. Postini is an email perimeter protection service that delivers real-time anti-spam, anti-virus and email system monitoring. Postini separates spam and viruses from legitimate email messages. Legitimate email is passed on to NCI's mail server. Junk mail and virus-infected messages are quarantined in a web-based, password protected message center for end-user review. For a nominal fee, customers can subscribe to these services and configure the settings to filter their incoming email.
